EGP

EGP (Escola de Gestão do Porto), the Porto School of Management, is a college of the University of Porto: a Business School dedicated to post graduate studies in management and executive education. |
These activities are complemented by constant involvement in the areas of applied research and consulting services to companies. It is the successor to the ISEE (Higher Business Studies Institute) set up in 1988 at the heart of the University of Porto.
The basic resource is its faculty with wide research and teaching experience, from various faculties at the University of Porto (Economics, Engineering, Psychology and Educational Sciences). At the same time EGP is supported by a group of companies and other organizations that are brought together for this purpose as the AEGP (Association for the Porto Management School).
The Association has a decisive voice in decisions concerning the make up of management bodies within the school (main board and executive committee). It ensures that the EGP has effective links with the Portuguese business community. In this respect the school is unique among Portuguese public universities.
EGP also has two other categories of teaching staff in almost equal numbers compared to Porto University faculty: professional managers and foreign University teachers, particularly from the USA (Central Florida, Massachusetts, Miami and New Orleans) and from the UK (London Business School). This link with schools from abroad (in some cases since 1988) gives a strong international flavour to the school’s activities, which is a key factor for a school such as the EGP.
Currently, the EGP’s reference products are the MBA and two Executive MBA programmes in addition to other Masters programmes (Masters in Logistics and Masters in Applied Quantitative Methods for Management). The factor that marks these programmes out is the fact that they are taught in a Business School environment. Besides these programmes involving a full academic year, the EGP also runs short and medium term top management programmes and in-company training programmes
